Description
IMPORTANT NOTE: these plants are NOT IN BUD/BLOOM when shipped. PLEASE look at all the pictures in this listing so you know the condition/size of plant you’ll be getting.
This recently-discovered species from one of the orchid species hotspots of the world, Yunnan Province in China, is called Den. hekouense, but should be called ‘hecka-cute’! It can easily reach Blooming Size in a 2-inch or 3-inch pot.
Its pseudobulbs are hardly bigger than sunflower seeds. This may be one of the cutest orchids ever!
It is also quite easy to grow, but definitely avoid temps below 50 F. It grows in nature on the underside of branches so as to avoid rainwater getting on flowers (or so it is speculated…).
Please note: this species can be deciduous and lose its leaves! But it grows readily, with new shoots emerging from the nodes of its canes and the base of the plant.
Den. hekouense’s miniature size make it a wonderful addition to any space-challenged orchid setup, and it will thrive in any vivarium.
