Description
This orchid is VERY distinctive even in an overly-crowded family like the Odontoglossums. Per usual for hybrids contained in this vast grouping, the background genetics are mutt-like, but the bloom definitely stands out, as it combines a LARGE flower that is STAR-SHAPED and almost completely DARK MAROON on a LONG ARCHING FLOWER SPIKE. Any one of the above on its own is a dime a dozen in the Odont group, but bringing them together in one flower is something special! Clearly the breeder was seeking to breed for all of the above characteristics, and he succeeded gorgeously!
